  1. First, go to the Yahoo messenger site meant to request your data: https://messenger.yahoo.com/getmydata.
  2. Now, Sign-in to your respective Yahoo account.
  3. Select the verification method and type the account key you receive on your selected method of verification.
  4. Select “Download”
  5. Now, provide an email address where you want to save the file in which your Yahoo messenger data will be stored.
  6. Click OK and that’s it!

After saving your chat on the computer/hard drive/ server, Yahoo advises you to delete your app from the system. Yahoo is still working on the replacement, but it is certainly taking longer than usual. However, the closure of the Yahoo messenger app will not affect your Yahoo account in any way and it can be used as before.
